It is about dignity

Chilean Bishops told prominant homosexual activist that the Church defends the dignity of the human person. This is the fundamental principle why the Church opposes homosexual acts, contraception, pornography, abortion... read the story.

"Christian, realize your dignity!" - Pope Saint Leo the Great.

While I applaud the bishops' efforts to curb homosexuality, I'm not sure they correctly presented Church teaching. Homosexual acts are not immoral because they violate "human dignity", they're immoral because the violate the Law of Almighty God.

Our dignity is based upon God's Law. When we break His Law, we destroy our dignity. He prescribes His Law in accord with how He made us, and the more we live within the accord of how He made us, the more dignity we have.

I agree with your response. I took issue with the section in the original post that said, "This [the violation of human dignity] is the fundamental principle why the Church opposes homosexual acts, contraception, pornography, abortion..."

I don't believe that's entirely correct. The Church opposes these evils because they oppose God's Law. Our human dignity is violated as a result of breaking God's law, but it (violation of human dignity) is not the reason the acts are wrong.
